We are always in need of volunteers to help out at our club shows. We need help in the office as well as on the grounds. Helping out at our shows is a great way to learn about the running of a show and also getting to know your committee and club members. We always need people to help our show manager and gate marshall put the trail equipment out and put it away after the event. If you see Bill and Ian carrying out the equipment, please don't be shy. Any assistance would be appreciated.
We don't have a regular announcer anymore. If you feel you have the skills and the dulcet tones to announce, put your hand up. It's easy and a lot of fun and will take the pressure off our office ladies who are trying to do other things.
Stewarding is one of the best ways to learn about events and how to compete. A steward is the judges assistant for the day. The stewards job is incredibly important and consists of writing placings, writing the scoring on the reining, western riding and trail sheets, communicating with competitors and generally being the judges 'right hand man'. A good steward is invaluable but but don't be scared to give it a try. If your writing is readable, you can add up and have good customer service skills, you are perfect. The judge will show you the way if you are inexperienced. It's not hard but very interesting. You can learn so much by standing in the centre and watching.
If you want to volunteer at a show for any of the above, give on of our committee members a call.
